Daytona 660: A Closer Look
The Triumph Daytona 660 is powered by a 660cc inline three-cylinder engine, the same unit found in the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660. However, in the Daytona 660, this engine is tuned to deliver more power, producing 95hp at 11,250rpm and 69Nm of torque at 8,250rpm. This makes it 14hp more powerful and 5Nm torquier than its naked and adventure counterparts.
Despite its power boost, the Daytona 660 weighs 12kg more than the Trident 660 and 5kg less than the Tiger Sport 660. It has a seat height of 810mm, which is 25mm lower than the Tiger Sport 660 and 5mm higher than the Trident 660. Globally, the Daytona 660 is offered in three striking colors: Snowdonia White, Satin Granite, and Carnival Red. It features a 14-litre fuel tank, similar to the Trident 660, ensuring a good balance between performance and practicality.
While the Daytona 660 is priced slightly lower than the Tiger Sport 660 globally, in India, it comes at a premium, costing ₹27,000 more. It also costs ₹1.60 lakh more than the Trident 660, making it a more expensive choice in the Triumph lineup. However, it’s important to note that the Street Triple 765 R, which costs only ₹45,000 more, offers significantly more power and higher-spec equipment.
In the competitive Indian market, the Daytona 660 stands against rivals like the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Aprilia RS 660. It will also face upcoming competition from the Honda CBR650R and Suzuki GSX-8R, making it an exciting addition to the sports bike segment.
