Alongside the launch, Toyota also shared that it has achieved a significant milestone of selling over 2.5 lakh Fortuners in India since its debut in 2009.
Fortuner Leader Edition: Features and Variants:
The Fortuner Leader Edition is available in both diesel-manual transmission (MT) and diesel-automatic transmission (AT) forms. It comes equipped with features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), auto-folding mirrors, and a wireless charger, adding to the convenience and comfort of the vehicle.
Exterior Design and Color Options:
In terms of exterior design, the Fortuner Leader Edition stands out with its new black alloy wheels and three dual-tone color options – Super White, Platinum Pearl White, and Silver Metallic, all paired with contrasting black elements. Additionally, the vehicle features new front and rear bumper ‘spoilers’, which are part of Toyota’s official list of accessories and are installed by the dealer.
Powertrain and Performance:
The Fortuner Leader Edition is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that delivers 204hp. When paired with the 6-speed automatic transmission, it produces 500Nm of torque, while with the manual gearbox, it delivers 420Nm of torque. The Fortuner Leader Edition is available exclusively in the 4×2 configuration.
Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: Pricing and Availability:
Toyota has not disclosed the official pricing for the Fortuner Leader Edition, stating that the prices will vary at the dealership level based on the specific accessories fitted for the customer’s requirements. However, it is expected that the prices for the Leader Edition will be slightly higher than the standard Fortuner 4×2 variants, which are priced between Rs 35.93 lakh and Rs 38.21 lakh.
Rivals and Competition:
In the Indian market, the Toyota Fortuner faces competition from vehicles such as the MG Gloster and the upcoming Ford Endeavour (likely to be named the Everest), which is set to re-enter the market and compete with the Fortuner once again.
The Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition aims to offer buyers a more premium and feature-rich option in the competitive SUV segment, further enhancing the appeal of this rugged and capable vehicle.
