Audi has revealed the third-generation Audi Q5, showcasing a brand-new platform, modern design inside and out, and a more extensive list of features. This new Q5 is the first vehicle to be built on Audi’s innovative Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), which now comes with mild-hybrid technology as standard.

Audi Q5 Exterior

The new Audi Q5 embraces Audi’s latest design language, with a sleeker, more sophisticated appearance. The front features a slightly smaller grille, flanked by slimmer Matrix LED headlights, and a redesigned bumper for a sharper look. At the rear, connected LED tail-lamps and a dual-tone bumper add to its modern aesthetic.

Audi Q5 Interior and Features

Inside, the Q5 shares its cabin design with the upcoming India-bound Q6 e-tron. The highlight is the Audi MMI panoramic display, consisting of an 11.9-inch digital driver’s display and a 14.5-inch touchscreen for infotainment. There’s also an optional 10.9-inch display for the front passenger. The interior is completed with Audi’s new three-spoke steering wheel, which is flat on the top and bottom, enhancing the car’s sporty appeal.

Powertrains and Specifications:

The third-gen Q5 offers three powertrain options. The base engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol, producing 204hp and 340Nm of torque, available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD). A 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 204hp and 400Nm, is also available with Audi’s quattro AWD system.

The range-topping SQ5 is equipped with a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-petrol engine that churns out 367hp and 550Nm. All engines are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and include a 48V mild-hybrid system, which adds an additional 24hp and 230Nm, along with an electrically driven air conditioning compressor. Audi has also announced plans to introduce plug-in hybrid variants of the Q5 in the future, featuring a larger battery and external charging capabilities.

Audi Q5 Pricing and India Launch:

In Europe, the new Audi Q5 starts at €52,300 (approximately ₹48.59 lakh) for the base petrol variant, €57,100 (approximately ₹53.05 lakh) for the diesel, and from €82,900 (approximately ₹77.02 lakh) for the SQ5. The new Q5 will be available in Germany later this month, with deliveries starting in the first quarter of 2025.

For India, the current-gen Q5 is priced between ₹65.51 lakh and ₹72.30 lakh. While the next-gen Q5 is expected to launch in India next year, Audi India has not yet provided a specific timeline. Upon its release, the new Q5 will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and Volvo XC60.
