As the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) gears up to kick off, Tata Motors has confirmed that the official car for the tournament will be the Tata Punch EV. This marks the second consecutive year that an electric vehicle (EV) has been chosen as the official car, following the Tata Tiago EV’s stint in the 2023 edition. Notably, the Tata Punch EV also served as the official car for the recently concluded 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL), highlighting its growing prominence in the EV segment.
Key Specifications: Battery, Range, and Performance
The Tata Punch EV offers two battery pack options, each paired with a single electric motor in a front-wheel-drive system. The larger 35 kWh battery pack provides a claimed range of 421 km, while the smaller 25 kWh battery offers a claimed range of 315 km. Real-world conditions are expected to yield approximately 320 km and 200 km for the larger and smaller battery packs, respectively.
In terms of performance, the Punch EV delivers 82 PS and 114 Nm of torque with the 25 kWh battery, while the 35 kWh battery variant boasts 122 PS and 190 Nm of torque, ensuring a dynamic driving experience.
Tata Punch EV Features and Safety
The Tata Punch EV is equipped with a host of features to enhance comfort and convenience. It boasts a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, and a sunroof.
In terms of safety, the Punch EV offers six airbags as standard, along with ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 360-degree camera, ensuring a safe and secure driving experience.

The Tata Punch EV is competitively priced, with variants ranging from Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes directly with the Citroen eC3 and serves as a premium alternative to the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV, offering customers a compelling electric vehicle option in the market.
