Royal Enfield Electric Bike patent images leaked which means RE is gearing up to join the electric vehicle (EV) market. The well-known motorcycle brand has been working on its own electric bike, and recent design patents reveal some unique and interesting features. As every major two-wheeler manufacturer is preparing to introduce their electric models, Royal Enfield is not far behind in this race.

Key Highlights

  • Royal Enfield gears up to enter the electric bike market.
  • Unique design with a classic bobber style and girder fork.
  • Integrated battery and motor housing in a single unit.
  • Disc brakes at both ends and belt drive on the right side.
  • Expected launch of the first model from the L-platform in 2025.

Royal Enfield Electric Bike: Unique Design Features

The Royal Enfield electric bike features a classic bobber style with a raked-out front end, a solo saddle, and an exposed rear fender. Despite its appearance as a single-seater, the presence of a saree guard indicates that it will have a pillion seat.

One of the standout features of this bike is its unique chassis design. The frame loops over the ‘fuel tank’ area, which is quite rare in production motorcycles. Another distinctive element is the use of a girder fork, reminiscent of classic motorcycles from nearly a century ago.

 Battery Pack and Motor

The battery pack of the Royal Enfield electric bike acts as a stressed member of the frame. Unlike traditional designs, there is no separate motor unit visible. Instead, the battery casing and motor housing are integrated into a single element, similar to what Harley-Davidson’s electric subsidiary, LiveWire, has done with its S2 models.

Performance and Components

The bike features a belt drive on the right side and disc brakes at both ends for efficient stopping power. The braced swingarm appears to be made of cast aluminum. While the bike seems to lack a rear suspension, a closer look reveals a monoshock connected to the upper part of the swingarm.

Royal Enfield Electric Bike Launch Date

With the filing of this design patent, it appears that the launch of the Royal Enfield electric bike is drawing near. We can expect to see the first model from this new electric platform, known as the L-platform, sometime in 2025.
