Renault is gearing up to launch a new 7-seater SUV in India, inspired by the internationally showcased Dacia Bigster concept from 2021. The production-ready Dacia Bigster is set to make its global debut next month at the Paris Motor Show and will later be introduced in India under the Renault badge.

Key Highlights:

  • The Renault Bigster will be a 7-seater SUV, measuring 4.6 meters in length.
  • It shares many design elements with the Duster, including body panels and the CMF-B platform.
  • Tech features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital driver display.
  • Powertrain options include a 1.2L micro-hybrid or a 1.6L strong hybrid, with 4×2 and 4×4 variants.
  • Expected to launch in India by the second half of 2025, competing with SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV700.

The Bigster has been spotted testing, giving insights into its design and size. At 4.6 meters in length, it will be longer than the Duster and feature larger rear doors and a longer wheelbase, making it a more spacious 3-row SUV. The design will largely resemble the Duster, sharing body panels, dashboard layout, seats, and even the steering wheel. Its tech offerings will include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver display, wireless connectivity, and more.

Renault Dacia Bigster: Powertrain and Performance

The Renault Bigster is expected to share powertrain options with the new-gen Duster. This includes a 131bhp 1.2L micro-hybrid engine and a more powerful 140hp 1.6L strong hybrid powertrain. It will come in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, with terrain modes such as Auto, Snow, Off-road, Eco, and Mud/Sand. For the Indian market, the SUV could get the 170bhp 1.3L turbo-petrol engine, which will be available with both manual and CVT transmission options.

Renault Dacia Bigster: India Launch and Competition

Renault is expected to introduce the Bigster in India by the second half of 2025. Nissan will also launch its own version of this 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. Once launched, the Bigster will compete with other 7-seater SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and Tata Safari. Meanwhile, the new-gen Duster will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
