Ola Electric has made a significant announcement at its Sankalp 2024 event, introducing three new motorcycles – the Roadster X, Roadster, and Roadster Pro. These electric bikes mark a major milestone for the company, with deliveries set to begin in 2025, starting with the Roadster X. Ola also revealed its ambitious plans for the next two years, focusing on the development of in-house battery technology.

Ola Roadster X: A Closer Look

The Roadster X, part of Ola’s new Roadster series, is designed with a futuristic and minimalist approach. Built on a scalable platform, the Roadster X comes in three variants:

  • 2.5kWh: Priced at Rs 75,000
  • 3.5kWh: Priced at Rs 85,000
  • 4.5kWh: Priced at Rs 1 lakh

The top-tier 4.5kWh variant boasts impressive performance figures, including a 0-40kph acceleration in just 2.8 seconds, a top speed of 124kph, and a 200km range. The Roadster X is equipped with disc brakes featuring Combi Braking System (CBS), a 4.3-inch LCD screen powered by the latest MoveOS 5, and three riding modes: Sport, Normal, and Eco. Deliveries are expected to commence in the first half of 2026.

Ola Roadster: Power and Innovation

The Ola Roadster steps up the game with a 13kW motor and three battery options:

  • 3.5kWh: Priced at Rs 1.05 lakh
  • 4.5kWh: Priced at Rs 1.20 lakh
  • 6kWh: Priced at Rs 1.40 lakh

The top-spec Roadster variant accelerates from 0-40kph in just 2 seconds, with a top speed of 126kph and a claimed range of 248km. It features a 6.8-inch TFT touchscreen, four riding modes (Hyper, Sport, Normal, and Eco), cruise control, and various AI-powered features. The Roadster will also come with disc brakes, single-channel ABS, cornering ABS, and other advanced safety features. Deliveries are slated for the first half of 2026, shortly after the Roadster X.

Ola Roadster Pro: The Ultimate Electric Bike

At the top of the Roadster lineup is the Roadster Pro, which features a powerful motor with a peak output of 52kW and 105Nm of torque. The Roadster Pro will be available in two variants:

  • 8kWh: Priced at Rs 2 lakh
  • 16kWh: Priced at Rs 2.50 lakh

The 16kWh variant claims a blistering 0-60kph time of 1.9 seconds, a top speed of 194kph, and an IDC range of 579km. The Roadster Pro comes with a 10-inch TFT touchscreen, USD fork, dual-channel ABS, and four riding modes. Safety features include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), traction control, cornering ABS, and wheelie and stoppie control. Deliveries are set to begin in the first half of 2027.

Ola’s In-House Battery Development: The Bharat 4680

In a move to further strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio, Ola announced plans to develop and integrate its own battery cells starting in 2025. These cells, currently in trial production at Ola’s gigafactory, are expected to pack five times more energy than current cells, offer a longer life with over 1,000 charge cycles, and support faster charging. This development is poised to give Ola a competitive edge in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market.
