Next-gen Honda Amaze spotted testing ahead of its debut.
Honda has started road-testing the next-gen Amaze, which is expected to go on sale by the end of this year with deliveries likely beginning in January 2025. The heavily camouflaged test mule, spotted on the outskirts of Delhi, has given us the first glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming generation of this popular compact sedan.
Key Highlights:
- Next-gen Honda Amaze spotted testing ahead of global debut.
- Expected to go on sale by the end of 2024, with deliveries in January 2025.
- Will continue to be petrol-only with potential CNG variants later.
- New Amaze will shift to Honda City’s platform with a shorter wheelbase.
- Competes against Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and similarly priced SUVs.
Next-Gen Amaze Engine and Powertrain
The new Amaze will continue to be a petrol-only model, with a 1.2-litre engine that can be paired with a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. Although heavily camouflaged, the spy shots reveal that the next-gen Amaze might carry forward the slab-sided design of the current model, but with some modern updates. The test mule also hints at features like smokey-finished tail lamps, a reverse camera, a shark fin antenna, and three fixed rear headrests, similar to what’s seen in the Honda City.
The upcoming Amaze will be built on the Honda City’s platform but with a shorter wheelbase to fit within the sub-four-metre length category. The current model has a wheelbase of 2,470mm, which is significantly shorter than the City’s 2,600mm.
Next-Gen Amaze Rivals and Expected Price
Honda’s new Amaze will face stiff competition, particularly from the all-new Maruti Dzire, which is expected to hit the market just months before the Amaze. Other rivals include the Hyundai Aura and compact SUVs like the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Currently, the Amaze is priced between Rs 7.20 lakh and Rs 9.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and contributes nearly a quarter of Honda’s total sales in India.
