Triumph is expanding its 400cc lineup, which currently includes the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. The British motorcycle brand has teased a new bike with the RS nameplate, with an unveiling date set for 17th September 2024. This upcoming model is expected to slot between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, offering another option in their popular 400cc range.

New Triumph Speed 400 based Bike Design and Features

The new Triumph 400cc bike is being teased as “another modern classic.” Based on the teaser, the bike is likely to feature a round headlamp, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and a flat single-piece seat. Its dual-tone fuel tank design, adorned with Triumph’s signature logo, adds a premium touch. The bike is also expected to come with advanced features such as a semi-digital instrument console, USB charging port, LED headlight and taillights, and a ride-by-wire throttle system. Additionally, it will have a switchable traction control system, similar to its sibling models.

Mechanicals of the New Triumph 400cc Bike

Mechanically, the new 400cc bike is expected to share much of its DNA with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. It will likely feature a tubular steel frame, upside-down front forks, and a rear monoshock suspension setup. The braking system will be supported by dual-channel ABS with disc brakes at both ends. The new bike is also expected to roll on 17-inch alloy wheels, providing excellent road grip and stability.

Performance of the Upcoming Triumph 400cc Model

Powering the new 400cc Triumph is expected to be a familiar 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine generates a robust 39.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. It will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox featuring a slip-and-assist clutch, making the ride smoother and more controlled. Multiple ride modes, which are likely to be included, will enhance the versatility of the motorcycle for different riding conditions.

Expected Launch and Pricing

While the price of the upcoming Triumph 400cc bike hasn’t been revealed yet, it is expected to be positioned between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X.
