Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG can be launched on 12th September.
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the CNG-powered Swift in the Indian market, with the official price announcement expected on September 12. This much-anticipated variant will be based on the latest-generation Swift hatchback, which went on sale earlier this year with a petrol engine. The Swift CNG will offer multiple trims and is expected to be priced around Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000 higher than the equivalent petrol versions.
Key Highlights:
- Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG to launch next week, with prices expected on September 12.
- Multiple trims will be available, similar to the petrol-powered Swift.
- Powered by the 1.2-litre Z12E engine, paired with CNG for the first time.
- Expected price to be Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000 higher than petrol variants.
- Maruti aims to sell over 6 lakh CNG vehicles in FY25, boosting CNG model sales.
Maruti Swift CNG Engine and Powertrain
The Swift CNG will feature the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Z12E engine as the petrol-powered variant, making this the first time this engine will be paired with a CNG setup. Like other Maruti CNG models, the Swift CNG will come with a single-cylinder CNG setup. While it’s confirmed that multiple trims will be available, it remains uncertain whether the top-spec variants will offer the CNG option.
Given Maruti Suzuki’s strong focus on CNG vehicles, the company aims to expand its portfolio of CNG models, which already constitute a significant share of its total sales. CNG models make up 34 percent of Maruti’s overall sales, with a 37 percent growth in sales compared to last year. Maruti holds a 73 percent share of the CNG vehicle market in India, and the Swift CNG launch is part of the company’s broader strategy to sell over 6 lakh CNG vehicles by FY25.
Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG Expected Price and Market Impact
The Swift CNG is anticipated to be priced Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000 more than its petrol counterpart, which aligns with pricing trends across Maruti’s CNG range. The addition of a CNG variant to the Swift lineup will cater to the growing demand for CNG-powered vehicles in India, driven by rising fuel costs and environmental concerns.
Maruti’s Ambitious CNG Plans
With the launch of the Swift CNG, Maruti Suzuki is reinforcing its commitment to CNG technology. The company aims to match the entire market’s CNG sales in FY24 with its 6 lakh CNG units target for FY25. This move will further strengthen Maruti’s already dominant position in the CNG car segment, appealing to customers looking for more fuel-efficient and eco-friendly options.
