Maruti Suzuki’s new-generation Swift hatchback became the highest selling model in its debut month, with 19,393 units sold and over 40,000 bookings.
Maruti Suzuki new-gen Swift hatchback to a resounding success, achieving record-breaking sales in its first month. Introduced in early May at a starting price of Rs. 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Swift has already sold 19,393 units, making it the highest selling model of the brand in its debut month. Additionally, bookings for the new Swift have crossed the 40,000 mark.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer of Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, expressed his satisfaction with the launch’s success. He said, “We have right now introduced the petrol variant (of the Swift), the CNG variant has not yet been introduced. 40,000 bookings just for Petrol is a very good response and we’re seeing good traction for the Swift in the first month of launch.”
A closer look at the sales data reveals that the manual gearbox model is the most popular choice among buyers, accounting for 83% of the sales. The AGS variants (Automated Manual Transmission) make up the remaining 13% of the demand.
The new-generation Swift comes with several updates, the most significant being the new 1.2 litre 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine. This engine, while producing slightly less power than its predecessor, offers higher fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many car buyers.
Here’s a breakdown of the sales figures for the new Swift:
The high demand and positive response to the new Swift underscore Maruti Suzuki’s continued dominance in the hatchback segment and its ability to adapt to consumer preferences.
With the successful launch of the petrol variant, anticipation is building for the upcoming CNG variant, which is expected to further boost sales. As the bookings continue to surge, Maruti Suzuki’s new Swift is well on its way to becoming a significant player in the Indian automotive market.
