Mahindra is all set to launch one of its most awaited SUVs, the Mahindra Thar Roxx, in India on August 15. This new 5-door model will bring enhanced features and an appealing design, positioning itself as a top contender in the SUV market.

Mahindra Thar Roxx;Exterior and Interior Design
Mahindra has revealed the exterior design of the Thar Roxx, showcasing several new elements. The SUV will feature a new grille with six double-stacked slots, replacing the seven-slot design seen in the 3-door Thar. Circular headlamps will remain, now upgraded with an LED projector setup and C-shaped DRLs.
Inside, the Thar Roxx will boast dual 10.25-inch displays and a panoramic sunroof. Other standout features include a 360-degree camera, all-around LED lighting, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and ADAS Level 2 for enhanced safety.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Engine Options and Powertrains
The Thar Roxx will offer multiple engine options:
- A 1.5-litre entry-level diesel engine
- A 2.2-litre diesel engine
- A 2.0-litre petrol engine
These engines will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options. Additionally, the SUV will come with standard rear-wheel drive, with a 4WD setup available, similar to the current 3-door Thar.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Rivals
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is expected to be a direct competitor to the Force Gurkha 5-door. It will also compete with popular mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. With its advanced features and robust design, the Thar Roxx will sit above the Scorpio-N in Mahindra’s SUV lineup.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Launch date and Expected Price
Production of the Thar Roxx has already begun ahead of its August 15 launch. Unofficial bookings have started at the dealer level. Positioned above the Thar 3-door, the Thar Roxx is expected to be priced from around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
