Lamborghini Huracan Successor: What makes it special?
One of the most notable changes is the replacement of the outgoing Huracan’s famed naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. This new powertrain will be complemented by three electric motors and the dual-clutch eight-speed gearbox first seen in the Revuelto hypercar.
Lamborghini has revealed that the V8 engine will produce a staggering 800HP, with a rev range between 9,000 and 9,750 rpm. The engine will feature a flat-plane crankshaft and has the capability to rev up to 10,000 rpm. Additionally, one of the electric motors will be positioned between the petrol engine and the new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, generating 150PS and 300Nm.
While the exact placement of the remaining two electric motors is yet to be confirmed, it is speculated that they will be mounted up front to power the front two wheels.
Lamborghini has emphasized that particular attention has been paid to the sound of the new V8 engine, with the company claiming that “the characteristics of the new V8 intensify in a crescendo that at high revs reaches its peak in terms of volume and frequency content”.
The Huracan replacement is set to be unveiled later this year, with speculations suggesting an August premiere. With the Urus SUV already available as a plug-in hybrid, Lamborghini is moving closer towards becoming a fully electric brand.
