Hyundai has unveiled its new electric off-road-inspired vehicle, the Inster Cross, for international markets. This model is a variant of the Inster EV, which debuted just a few months ago, but with a focus on rugged, outdoor aesthetics. Production is set to begin later this year at Hyundai’s plant in Korea.

Hyundai Inster Cross: Design and Styling
The Inster Cross preserves much of the core design language from the standard Inster but gets several tweaks for a more adventurous look. The most noticeable changes include new rectangular front and rear bumpers, black cladding around the wheel arches, faux skid plates, and 17-inch alloy wheels that complete the rugged makeover. The car is also equipped with a roof rack as standard, adding to its utility.
A fresh Amazonas Green Matte paint option further distinguishes the Inster Cross from its sibling, adding to the vehicle’s adventurous character. Inside, the cabin remains largely unchanged, though buyers can choose a unique trim option featuring grey cloth upholstery with lime-yellow accents.
Hyundai Inster Cross :Powertrain and Battery
Despite its off-road appearance, the Inster Cross shares its powertrain with the standard Inster. The vehicle offers two battery pack options—a 42 kWh unit providing a range of 300 km (WLTP) and a larger 49 kWh battery, extending the range to 355 km (WLTP). The 42 kWh model has a maximum output of 96 bhp, while the 49 kWh version boosts the power to 113 bhp. Charging the vehicle from 10% to 80% can be done in around 30 minutes using a 120 kW DC fast charger.
Enhanced Features, but No 4×4
While the Inster Cross gets several cosmetic updates, it does not offer all-wheel drive or a 4×4 option. However, Hyundai promises more standard features compared to the regular Inster model, catering to tech-savvy buyers looking for a robust electric vehicle with plenty of amenities.
The new Inster Cross aims to attract those seeking a versatile, stylish electric car suitable for both city driving and weekend adventures. Though it lacks the capability for serious off-roading, the vehicle’s extended range, combined with its bold styling, is expected to make it a hit in the growing electric SUV market.
With production beginning later this year, the Inster Cross will soon join Hyundai’s expanding lineup of electric vehicles, reinforcing the company’s commitment to a sustainable, stylish future.
