Citroen Basalt Exterior Desgin
The Citroen Basalt is the fourth model under Citroen’s C-Cubed initiative, designed specifically for the Indian market. With its coupe-like silhouette, it stands out from the crowd, particularly with its sloping roofline and redesigned rear. The Basalt shares its platform with the Citroen C3 Aircross but brings a fresh and modern design approach, featuring new alloy wheels, LED tail-lamps, and a dual-tone rear bumper.
Citroen Basalt Interior and Features
Inside, the Basalt maintains a familiar dashboard layout but introduces segment-first features like adjustable thigh support for the rear seats. This thoughtful addition, combined with a spacious 470-litre boot, makes the Basalt a practical yet stylish choice for Indian families.
On the technology front, the Basalt is well-equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Additional features include a digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, and rear AC vents. Safety has been a priority, with six airbags, electronic stability control, a rear parking camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Citroen Basalt Engine and Powertrain
Under the hood, the Basalt offers two engine options: a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 82hp and 115Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and a more powerful 110hp turbo-petrol engine. The turbo-petrol variant comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox, offering a range of options to suit different driving preferences.
Citroen Basalt Competitors
While Citroen has only revealed the starting price, the full price list is expected soon. The Basalt is competitively priced, undercutting rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, and others by at least Rs 1 lakh, making it an attractive option in the midsize SUV segment.
