Klaus Zellmer, Chairman of the Board of Škoda Auto said,”Our customers rightly expect a lot from the Octavia and this refresh takes our best-selling model to the next level. Innovations such as a fully redesigned infotainment system, new safety assistance systems, increased use of sustainable materials and more powerful headlights make it an even better fit for everyday explorers. I’m confident our latest Octavia will surprise and delight its drivers and passengers, confirming its place as our most popular car.”
Skoda Octavia Facelift Interior and Features:
The Skoda Octavia Facelift now offers a 13-inch central infotainment display, a first for the model. USB-C ports have been upgraded to provide 45 watts of charging power. The Phone Box now features more powerful wireless charging (15 watts) and ventilation. Additionally, a 15-watt USB-C port on the back of the interior mirror is available. The updated Octavia offers nine interior Design Selections, which highlight the increased use of sustainable materials. In line with Škoda’s commitment to sustainability, the leather for the seats in the Suite Design Selection is sustainably tanned using the husks of coffee cherries, which are otherwise considered waste products.
Skoda Octavia Facelift Exterior:
The Octavia sports a refreshed appearance with new aprons and an updated Škoda grille. Its second-generation LED Matrix beam headlights feature new Crystallinium elements and 36 individual matrix segments, providing improved road illumination while minimizing glare for oncoming traffic.
The Octavia introduces several new wheel options, all alloy (except for the entry-level Essence model). The Selection trim level includes aerodynamically optimized silver 16-inch Matar wheels as standard. The Octavia Sportline offers new black, glossy machined 17-inch Slagard aero wheels. Additionally, new options include the 18-inch Lerna and the RS-specific 19-inch Elias wheels, available in glossy machined silver or anthracite with black Aero trims. The Octavia’s color palette includes three solid colors and seven metallic finishes. Mamba Green is exclusive to the Sportline and RS models, while Phoenix Orange is only available on the Octavia Combi.
Skoda Octavia Facelift Powertrain:
he updated Octavia offers a range of powertrains, starting with a 1.5 TSI petrol engine and a 2.0 TDI diesel, each delivering 85 kW (115 hp) of power and paired with a manual 6-speed gearbox. The previous 81 kW three-cylinder petrol unit has been replaced by a new four-cylinder engine. The entry-level petrol engine, like the 1.5 TSI version with 110 kW (150 hp), can be equipped with mild-hybrid technology when paired with an automatic DSG transmission. This system stores energy recovered during braking in a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, which is then used by a water-cooled 48-volt belt-driven starter-generator. This setup supports the internal combustion engine with additional electric power or allows the Octavia to coast with the engine completely off. Both 1.5 TSI engines can also deactivate two cylinders using ACT+ technology to reduce fuel consumption when less power is needed. The turbocharger includes variable turbine geometry for enhanced performance.
Skoda Octavia Facelift, Plans for India?
Škoda has not yet tuned its petrol engine to meet the emission norms. However, it is expected to do so soon, especially with rumors circulating about the new-gen Superb coming to India. This leads us to anticipate the return of the Octavia in 2024. The Octavia could potentially be launched in late 2024, following the release of the new-gen Superb and Kodiaq.
