Citroen Basalt Exterior
The Citroen Basalt closely resembles the C3 Aircross SUV, sharing many design elements like the chrome-lined Chevron logo, two-part grille, and faux silver skid plate. However, it introduces projector headlamps, a first for Citroen’s C-Cubed models in India. The coupe-SUV sports a distinct profile with squared-off cladding over the wheel arches and a flowing roofline. At the rear, it features a well-contoured tailgate and dual-tone bumper. Available in five colors, including Polar White and Garnet Red, the Basalt also offers a contrast black roof option for select shades.
Citroen Basalt Interior and Safety Features
Inside, the Basalt borrows the dashboard layout from the C3 Aircross but includes notable upgrades. These enhancements feature a new HVAC panel with digital readouts and auto AC, a larger front armrest with storage, and restyled rear headrests. The rear seats come with adjustable thigh support, a unique feature in this segment. The vehicle offers a generous 470-litre boot space, complemented by rear AC vents located both on the roof and behind the front center armrest.
Tech-savvy customers will appreciate the 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, 7-inch all-digital instrument cluster, 15W wireless smartphone charger, and connected car tech. Safety features across all variants include six airbags, ESP, hill-hold assist, and a tire pressure monitor.
Citroen Basalt Engine and Powertrain Details
The Basalt is powered by two 1.2-litre petrol engines: an 82hp naturally aspirated unit and a 110hp turbo-petrol engine. The turbo-petrol engine offers a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic, while the naturally aspirated engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Citroen claims impressive fuel-efficiency figures, with the turbo-petrol manual achieving up to 19.5kpl.
Citroen Basalt Competitor
With the Tata Curvv as its primary competitor, the Citroen Basalt will also face off against established midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate.
