The i5 M60 is based on the new-generation BMW 5 Series and is currently the most powerful variant in the EV lineup. It features an all-wheel-drive drivetrain with an electric motor on each axle, delivering a combined output of up to 593 bhp and 820 Nm of torque. This powertrain enables the i5 M60 to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 230 kmph. The sedan is equipped with an 83.9 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of up to 516 km on a single charge. BMW is offering all units of the i5 M60 with a complimentary 11 kW wall box charger, with the option of upgrading to a more powerful 22 kW unit. The sedan also supports up to 205 kW DC fast charging.

In terms of design, the i5 M60 retains the styling of the internal combustion model of the new 5 Series, with some distinctive touches such as blue halos around the BMW roundels and a blanked-out grille. As an M-performance variant, the i5 M60 features a unique grille design, sportier elements like a rear diffuser, large 20-inch alloy wheels, and sport seats in the cabin.

Moving to the features, the i5 M60 is equipped with four-zone climate control, active seat ventilation for the front seats, a panoramic glass roof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch touchscreen, and a 655-watt 17-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system. It also comes with adaptive suspension, adaptive LED headlights, 360-degree cameras, and more. Buyers can further enhance their vehicle with options like adaptive M suspension, comfort front seats, and parking assistant professional, which allows users to park the vehicle using their smartphones.

In terms of competition, the i5 M60 currently sits in a price bracket without any direct rivals, with the Audi e-tron and Mercedes EQS positioned in a higher segment. At its current price, the i5 M60 will compete against models like the Audi Q8 e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace.
