BYD eMax7 do not have any direct competition in India.
BYD India is gearing up for the launch of its facelifted e6 MPV, which will be renamed the BYD eMax7. The official price announcement is expected in early October. The new eMax7 is set to bring enhanced features, refreshed looks, and possibly new seating configurations.
Key Highlights:
- The facelifted BYD e6 MPV will be renamed BYD eMax7 for India.
- Exterior updates include revised headlamps, taillamps, and more chrome detailing.
- A larger 12.8-inch touchscreen and new features are added to the interior.
- The powertrain could offer two battery options, with a claimed range of up to 530km.
- Expected to be priced slightly higher than the current model at ₹29.15 lakh.
BYD eMax7: Exterior Design
The BYD eMax7 for the Indian market is based on the facelifted e6, which has already launched in countries like Indonesia as the BYD M6. For India, the name had to be changed due to copyright issues. The eMax7 will feature subtle but significant design changes, such as revamped headlamps and taillamps, along with added chrome accents on both the front and rear. The bumpers have also been redesigned to give the MPV a fresh look.
BYD eMax7: Interior Updates
Inside, the most noticeable upgrade is the new 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, a step up from the previous 10.1-inch unit. The dashboard layout remains familiar, but BYD has tweaked the center console to include two wireless charging pads, updated switchgear, and a new drive selector lever. The new steering wheel adds a modern touch, while the instrument cluster continues with analog dials.
BYD eMax7: Powertrain and Specifications
In markets like Indonesia, the facelifted e6 (sold as BYD M6) comes with two battery pack options: a 55.4kWh battery offering 420km range, and a larger 71.8kWh battery with a 530km range. The power output varies from 163hp to 204hp depending on the battery size, with torque rated at 310Nm across both variants.
In India, the current BYD e6 is already available with the 71.8kWh battery, so it’s likely the same option will be offered with the eMax7. However, it’s unclear if the smaller battery will be introduced here. The price of the existing e6 is ₹29.15 lakh (ex-showroom), and the new eMax7 is expected to come at a slightly higher price due to the added features and updates.
BYD eMax7: Pricing and Competition
With its updated looks, enhanced tech, and improved range, the BYD eMax7 is poised to strengthen its position in the electric MPV segment in India. As of now, the eMax7 doesn’t have any direct competitors, which gives it a unique advantage. The price announcement in October will reveal how much of a premium the facelifted model will command over the current version.
