BMW Unveils Refreshed M4 with Enhanced Power, Technology, and Lighting Options
In its latest iteration, the BMW M4 Competition undergoes significant enhancements to maintain its competitive edge in the sports car segment, receiving a power boost and additional features.
BMW M4 More Power and Technological Advancements
The facelifted M4 boasts an increased power output, with the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine now delivering 530hp, a 20hp upgrade from its predecessor’s 510hp. This power peak is achieved at 6,250rpm, compared to the previous 5,600rpm. While torque remains unchanged at 650Nm, the M4 now sustains this level for an additional 230rpm, peaking between 2,750rpm and 5,730rpm.
RWD Discontinued, xDrive Takes the Spotlight
Notably, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant has been discontinued, making the four-wheel-drive xDrive version the sole option. The xDrive system allows torque to be exclusively sent to the rear wheels, particularly when stability control is disabled. Despite the increased power, the on-paper performance remains consistent, with BMW claiming 0-100kph sprint times of 3.5 seconds for the coupé and 3.7 seconds for the cabriolet.
BMW M4 Styling and Interior Upgrades
Visually, the M4 distinguishes itself from previous models through updated lights on both ends. The rear lights incorporate the innovative glassfibre bundle technology seen on the limited-run BMW M4 CSL.
Internally, the M4 maintains its signature dual-screen infotainment and instrumentation displays, measuring 14.9 inches and 12.3 inches, respectively. The software receives an upgrade from version 8.0 to 8.5, offering improved voice controls for climate functions. The ambient lighting extends into the area above the central air vents, featuring nine different colors that respond dynamically to stimuli such as open doors or incoming phone calls.
BMW M4 India Launch Expectations
Anticipated to make its way to India later this year, the updated BMW M4 line-up is poised to capture the attention of enthusiasts with its refined performance, cutting-edge technology, and sleek design.
