BMW India Launches New iX xDrive50 Variant: Powerful Battery and more range

BMW India has introduced the iX xDrive50, a higher-spec variant of its popular iX electric SUV. Priced at Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom, India), the iX xDrive50 offers a host of upgrades over the iX xDrive40, including a larger battery, more powerful motors, and several exterior and interior enhancements.

iX xDrive50 Key Features and Pricing

The iX xDrive50 comes with a price tag of Rs 1.40 crore, which is Rs 19 lakh more than the iX xDrive40. This premium variant boasts a total output of 523hp and 765Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0-100kph in just 4.6 seconds.

While the iX xDrive50 shares a similar design with the xDrive40, it features new 22-inch alloy wheels and adaptive suspension as standard. Optional extras include ‘Laserlight’ highlights, a Titanium Bronze exterior finish, and active seat ventilation.

Battery and Performance

The iX xDrive50 is equipped with a larger 111.5kWh battery pack, providing a WLTP-certified range of 635km. This is a significant improvement over the iX xDrive40, which features a 76.6kWh battery with a range of 425km. The iX xDrive50’s two electric motors, one on each axle, deliver exceptional performance, making it a true powerhouse on the road.

Charging Capabilities

BMW has ensured that the iX xDrive50 is convenient to charge, with the battery capable of being charged from 10-80 percent in approximately 35 minutes using a 195kW DC charger. Other charging options include 97 minutes with a 50kW DC charger, about 5.5 hours with a 22kW AC charger, and approximately 11 hours with an 11kW AC charger.

Warranty and Rivals

The iX xDrive50 comes with a standard 2-year/unlimited km warranty and 5-year roadside assistance. The batteries are covered by an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty as standard. With its premium features and performance, the iX xDrive50 competes with rivals such as the Mercedes EQE SUV, Jaguar I-Pace, and Audi Q8 e-tron.
