Maruti Suzuki India, a leading automobile manufacturer, is gearing up for a substantial increase in its overseas shipments, aiming to surpass the 3 lakh unit mark in the fiscal year 2024-25. Buoyed by the success of its export strategy, the company is confident of achieving this milestone as part of its broader ambition to reach up to 8 lakh units by 2030.
Maruti Suzuki Export Performance:
The company’s recent export performance has been impressive, with record shipments of 2.83 lakh units in the fiscal year 2023-24, up from 2.59 lakh units in the previous year. This growth, against a backdrop of a 3% industry-wide decline in exports, highlights Maruti Suzuki’s strong position in the global market.
Rahul Bharti, Executive Director Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki India, attributed this success to a strategic shift in the company’s approach to exports. He emphasized the importance of expanding the model lineup in key export markets, which span over 100 countries, and strengthening the distribution network. Drawing on best practices from its operations in India, Maruti Suzuki has implemented initiatives such as providing bank finance at dealerships, enhancing service facilities, and ensuring parts availability in export markets.
Maruti Suzuki Future Plans:
In Coming time the Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce more models in its export portfolio, including electric vehicles (EVs), which will commence production in FY25. These EVs will be targeted at advanced markets like Japan and Europe, reflecting the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable mobility.
Bharti outlined the company’s vision for the future, stating, “We hope to keep improving it steadily and by 2030 we have a target of 7.5 lakh to 8 lakh units total exports.” He expressed confidence in surpassing the 3 lakh unit mark in FY25, barring any unforeseen challenges.
Maruti Suzuki’s export success is aligned with the government’s vision to boost India’s exports and strengthen its position in global trade. The company’s focus on quality, customer satisfaction, and innovation has been instrumental in driving its export growth, making it a key player in the international automotive market.
