Tata Nexon EV Launches New 45kWh Battery Pack and Exclusive Red Dark Edition.

Tata Motors continues to strengthen its position in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of a new 45kWh battery pack for the Nexon EV. Priced starting from Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated Nexon EV offers improved range, faster charging, and a host of premium features, including a panoramic sunroof and the exclusive Red Dark edition. These enhancements make the Tata Nexon EV even more attractive for Indian consumers seeking an affordable and feature-packed electric SUV.

Key Highlights

  • Introduction of a 45kWh battery pack, delivering an extended range of up to 489km (ARAI-certified) and priced from Rs 13.99 lakh.
  • Panoramic sunroof introduced on the 45kWh variants, adding a premium touch to the compact electric SUV.
  • Red Dark Edition, with an exclusive design, priced at Rs 17.19 lakh, offering unique styling elements and a luxurious interior.
  • Faster charging for the 45kWh battery, reducing charge time from 10-80% to just 48 minutes with a fast charger.
  • Continued availability of 30kWh and 40.5kWh variants, alongside the new 45kWh version, providing buyers with multiple battery options.

New Tata Nexon EV 45kWh Battery Pack

The highlight of this latest update is the introduction of a larger 45kWh battery pack, which boosts the ARAI-claimed range to 489km. This is a significant improvement of 24km over the 40.5kWh variant, making it ideal for longer drives and reducing the frequency of charging stops. Tata Motors has optimized the new battery pack to ensure it maintains the same physical size as the smaller 40.5kWh battery, thanks to its 15% increase in energy density. This ensures that the vehicle’s layout remains unchanged, offering the same cabin and boot space.

Tata claims the real-world driving range of the 45kWh battery falls between 350-370km, depending on driving conditions. For urban commutes and short road trips, this extended range provides extra peace of mind for drivers.

Faster Charging with the 45kWh Variant

Tata Motors has also worked on improving the charging speed of the Nexon EV with the new 45kWh battery. The larger battery takes just 48 minutes to charge from 10-80% using a fast charger, compared to the 56 minutes it takes for the 40.5kWh variant. This makes it more convenient for users who are on the go, allowing for quicker top-ups during long trips.

The Nexon EV’s charging infrastructure is compatible with both AC and DC fast chargers, and Tata’s growing network of charging stations across the country ensures that owners can access charging points conveniently.

Nexon EV Red Dark Edition: A New Style Statement

Along with the new battery pack, Tata Motors has also launched an exclusive Red Dark Edition of the Nexon EV. Priced at Rs 17.19 lakh, the Red Dark Edition is available only on the Empowered+ trim of the 45kWh variant. The exterior styling of this model is striking, with a gloss black paint finish, complemented by subtle red accents and 16-inch gloss black alloy wheels. This gives the vehicle a bold, aggressive look, making it stand out on the road.

Inside, the Red Dark Edition features premium red upholstery, an all-black dashboard with contrast red stitching, and a unique Red Dark-themed UI for the infotainment system. The seats feature ‘#Dark’ embroidery on the headrests, emphasizing the exclusivity of the design. This variant is ideal for buyers seeking a premium, stylish electric SUV with all the latest tech and design elements.

Panoramic Sunroof and Other Premium Features

One of the most attractive new features in the 45kWh variants is the panoramic sunroof, which adds a sense of openness and luxury to the cabin. This feature is exclusive to the 45kWh trims, making the Nexon EV one of the few compact electric SUVs in India to offer a panoramic sunroof. The Mahindra XUV300 is currently the only other vehicle in this segment with a similar feature.

In addition to the sunroof, the Nexon EV comes with several high-end features, including a ‘Frunk’ (front trunk) for additional storage space, a premium Harman audio system, wireless phone charging, and a large touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
