Maruti Suzuki eVX SUV: Leading the Charge
Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle, the eVX, is expected to make its debut in early 2025. This mid-size SUV, internally codenamed Suzuki YY8, was first showcased at the Auto Expo last year. The eVX is designed to compete with other upcoming electric SUVs like the Hyundai Creta EV and Curvv EV.
The eVX will feature a sleek design with high-end interior finishes, LED lights, and stylish alloy wheels. It’s expected to offer a range of up to 500 km on a single charge, with two battery options: a 40 kWh battery for those who prioritize efficiency and cost, and a 60 kWh battery for a longer range.
Maruti Suzuki eWX: Affordable Electric Hatchback
Following the eVX, Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce the eWX, an electric hatchback, by mid-2026 or early 2027. The eWX, showcased at the Japan Mobility Show, is expected to be one of the most affordable EVs in Maruti’s lineup.
This hatchback will come equipped with advanced features such as wireless charging, an infotainment system with wireless connectivity, and automatic climate control. The eWX will compete with Tata’s electric models, the Tiago EV and Punch EV, offering a budget-friendly yet technologically advanced option for Indian consumers.
Maruti Suzuki Electric MPV: Expanding the Family Segment
In addition to the SUV and hatchback, Maruti Suzuki is developing an electric MPV, internally codenamed YMC. This MPV is expected to launch by September 2026 and will be based on the same Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) platform as the eVX SUV. While it will share key components like the battery pack and drivetrain with the eVX, the MPV will likely be more compact, catering to families seeking a spacious yet eco-friendly vehicle.
