2025 BMW M5 Touring Unwrapped: A Super-Estate with Wagon Body Style

BMW M5 Touring gets powerful V8 engine with Plug-in Hybrid setup.

BMW has finally revealed the highly anticipated M5 Touring, marking the return of the M5 wagon after more than a decade. This new model, unveiled at the prestigious Monterey Car Week in California, is the third iteration of BMW’s super-estate, originally launched in 1992. The M5 Touring, known internally as the G99, blends high performance with practicality, offering the best of both worlds for driving enthusiasts.

Key Highlights:

  • The BMW M5 Touring is the first M5 wagon in over a decade.
  • It features a powerful 717hp V8 plug-in hybrid engine.
  • The M5 Touring accelerates from 0-100kph in just 3.6 seconds.
  • The car boasts over 1,630 litres of luggage space.
  • Performance upgrades include adaptive suspension, four-wheel steering, and more.

BMW M5 Touring Engine and Performance

The BMW M5 Touring is designed for those who seek supercar-like performance in a practical, family-friendly package. The car is powered by a 717hp V8 plug-in hybrid engine, allowing it to sprint from 0-100kph in just 3.6 seconds. With a top speed exceeding 304kph, the M5 Touring rivals its peers, like the Audi RS6 Avant Performance and the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E-Performance. Despite its performance, the M5 Touring remains versatile, offering a spacious interior with over 1,630 litres of luggage space when the rear seats are folded down.

BMW M5 Touring Design and Features

Inside, the M5 Touring mirrors the luxurious and sporty interior of its sedan counterpart. It features BMW’s signature Curved Display, bucket seats, and carbon fibre trim, all powered by the upgraded iDrive system. The added weight of the M5 Touring, which tips the scales at 2.5 tonnes, is due to the additional bracing and strengthening required for the chassis, resulting from the larger size of the new G90 M5 platform. The car also features adaptive suspension, four-wheel steering, and a bespoke M differential as standard, ensuring a balanced and dynamic driving experience.

Will the BMW M5 Touring Come to India?

The BMW M5 Touring joins the 522hp BMW M3 Touring, marking the first time BMW has offered two different super estates. While the new BMW M5 is expected to arrive in India, it remains uncertain if the M5 Touring will make its way to Indian shores.
