BYD Seal Facelift: Exterior Update

The BYD Seal facelift sports subtle exterior changes that might go unnoticed at first glance. A new light purple color option and redesigned alloy wheels are among the fresh updates. The BYD logo on the tailgate now comes in red, adding a touch of distinction. One of the most significant changes is the addition of a roof-mounted lidar sensor, which improves the Seal’s adaptive cruise control and automated parking systems.

BYD Seal Facelift: Enhanced Charging System and Plans for India

The BYD Seal facelift includes an important technological upgrade: the transition from the existing 400V electrical system to an 800V architecture, known as e-Platform 3.0 Evo. This advancement reduces the Seal’s 10-80% charging time from 37 minutes to just 25 minutes. While BYD has yet to confirm the new peak charging rate, this upgrade suggests a significant improvement from the previous 150kW.

In China, the BYD Seal EV is available with two battery pack options: 61.44kWh and 80.64kWh, offering up to 700km of range on the CLTC cycle. In India, the current model, which launched five months ago, offers 61.44kWh and 82.56kWh batteries with up to 650km of range (NEDC). The Seal facelift’s India launch date remains uncertain, but it will continue to compete with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo XC40 Recharge in its price range of Rs 41 lakh to Rs 53 lakh.
