Speculation has been rife about Skoda Octavia Coming to India. The fourth-generation Octavia facelift has been anticipated for the Indian market for some time. In a recent interview with Autocar Professional, Skoda India Brand Director Petr Janeba revealed plans to assemble the model locally.

Key Highlights

  • Skoda Octavia’s fourth-gen facelift likely to come to India.
  • Local assembly plans under consideration for the Octavia.
  • Skoda Octavia RS version might also be introduced.
  • Next-gen Skoda Superb to remain a full import.
  • Skoda Kodiaq’s next-gen model due in the second quarter of 2025.

Skoda Octavia Coming to India?

“We are exploring the Octavia for India because this car must come back. This could exactly be up to Rs 30 lakh, where we currently have no offering,” said Janeba.

While no specific timeline has been committed for the model’s launch, Skoda India currently assembles the Kodiaq locally, whose next-gen model is expected in the second quarter of 2025. The introduction of the new Octavia will follow, as it typically takes 12-18 months to prepare a car for parts and components assembly. This preparation includes meeting emissions and regulatory norms and extensive testing.

Janeba explained, “As a parts and components car, the Kodiaq is already decided. It will come in between April and June next year. The next parts and components consideration is the Octavia.”

Skoda is also considering bringing in the sportier RS version of the Octavia. Internationally, the Octavia is available with 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. However, the India-spec model will be petrol-only, with the powertrain yet to be finalized. The Octavia RS, on the other hand, boasts a 265hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DSG. The fourth-gen Octavia received a midlife facelift in February this year.

Next-gen Skoda Superb to Continue as Import

Skoda currently sells the third-gen Superb in India as a full import in limited numbers, and this strategy will continue with the fourth-gen model. This approach means the new Superb could arrive in India sooner than the Octavia and even the Kodiaq.

“There is a new Superb coming, and the decision is that it will still be a CBU [completely built unit]. It will never be a parts and components assembly,” said Janeba. The Bratislava factory, where the Superb is produced, cannot produce kits for a single right-hand drive market. “It’s too much of an investment, and it does not make any sense. It’s just one car for one market,” added Janeba.
