2025 Yamaha MT-07 Engine and Performance

The Yamaha MT-07 continues to be powered by the robust 690cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin CP2 engine, producing 72.4 bhp and 6.82 kgm of torque. While there are no major changes to the engine’s core performance, the 2025 model introduces an electronic throttle system, marking the debut of ride-by-wire technology for the Yamaha MT-07. This new system allows riders to choose from three ride modes—Street, Sport, and a customizable mode—providing flexibility for different terrains and conditions. A modern 5-inch TFT display allows easy access to these settings and adds a refined touch to the bike’s cockpit.

Introducing the Optional Y-AMT Transmission

A major highlight of the 2025 MT-07 is the optional Y-AMT transmission. This semi-automatic gearbox enables seamless gear shifts with a toggle located on the left switch cube, perfect for riders seeking a blend of manual control with automated convenience. For traditionalists, Yamaha still offers a manual transmission variant. This addition reflects Yamaha’s dedication to inclusivity, catering to diverse rider preferences and skill levels.

Upgraded Frame and Suspension for Superior Handling

Yamaha has re-engineered the MT-07’s frame for improved stability and agility. The new steel trellis frame maintains the same weight as its predecessor but offers up to 13% increased torsional, longitudinal, and lateral rigidity, enhancing overall control. The bike now features advanced 41mm inverted forks and a link-type monoshock, providing better suspension and comfort. Additionally, the front brakes have been upgraded to radial units, replacing the previous axial ones for improved stopping power and precision.
