Tata Motors’ flagship coupe-SUV, the Tata Curvv, has earned a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) crash tests. Both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) versions of the Curvv were tested, demonstrating high levels of safety for both adult and child occupants. However, the EV model marginally outperforms the ICE version in terms of occupant protection.

Tata Curvv BNCAP Rating: ICE Crash Test Performance

The Tata Curvv’s ICE variant, specifically the diesel Accomplished + A version, underwent BNCAP’s rigorous crash testing. In adult occupant protection (AOP), it scored an impressive 29.50 out of 32. The vehicle achieved 14.65 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, conducted at a speed of 64 km/h. The side moveable deformable barrier test added another 14.85 out of 16 points to its tally, confirming its robustness in side-impact collisions.

For child occupant protection (COP), the Curvv ICE model earned 43.66 points out of 49. The dynamic tests, which simulate real-world crash scenarios, accounted for 22.66 out of 24 points. Additionally, it scored a full 12 out of 12 in the Child Restraint System (CRS) installation score, indicating excellent compatibility with child safety seats. The vehicle assessment gave it 9.0 out of 13, reflecting its commitment to child passenger safety.

The EV version of the Tata Curvv, particularly the Empowered + A variant equipped with the 55kWh battery, outscored the ICE model in both AOP and COP categories. In adult occupant protection, the EV scored 30.81 out of 32. It achieved 15.66 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and 15.15 out of 16 in the side moveable deformable barrier test, underscoring its superior build quality and safety features.

For child occupant protection, the Curvv EV scored 44.83 out of 49, with 23.83 out of 24 in the dynamic tests, demonstrating remarkable safety for child passengers. Like the ICE version, it scored 12 out of 12 in CRS installation and 9.0 out of 13 in vehicle assessment. These ratings apply across the entire Curvv EV line-up, including both the 45kWh and 55kWh battery variants.
