Citroen Basalt BNCAP Safety Rating Explained:
According to the BNCAP report, the Citroen Basalt earned four stars for both adult and child occupant protection. It scored 26.19 points out of 32 for adult safety, while child occupant protection was rated at 35.90 out of 49. These results underline the vehicle’s robustness in real-world crash situations, offering commendable protection to both driver and passengers.
The BNCAP tests were conducted in August 2024 and included multiple variants: the You and Plus trims for the naturally aspirated petrol models, and the Plus and Max trims for the turbo-petrol versions. Both manual and automatic transmission options were tested to provide a comprehensive assessment of the vehicle’s safety capabilities.
When it came to specific safety tests, the Citroen Basalt performed particularly well in the side movable impact and pole impact tests for adult occupants, which were rated as ‘Good.’ However, the front collision assessments showed varied results, ranging from ‘Marginal’ to ‘Adequate,’ signaling areas where the vehicle could improve further.
Citroen’s latest coupe SUV has entered the Indian market at a time when consumers are paying closer attention to safety ratings. While the four-star rating is a strong showing, it also highlights areas for potential improvement, particularly in front impact scenarios. Still, the Citroen Basalt’s performance in the BNCAP tests is a solid foundation as the brand aims to strengthen its presence in India.
