Mercedes-CLA Spied: What’s New?
The next-gen Mercedes – CLA, recently caught testing in southern Europe, promises to bring a fresh wave of innovation to the luxury sedan segment. Despite being heavily camouflaged, the spy shots reveal sharper headlights and new wraparound tail lamps, showcasing Mercedes’ commitment to design excellence. The headlights now sport an illuminated star LED pattern, similar to the upcoming E-Class, adding a futuristic touch to the vehicle’s front profile.
Inside, the CLA is expected to feature a three-screen display, reminiscent of those found in higher-end Mercedes models. This advanced tech will likely be offered as an option, enhancing the driving experience with cutting-edge digital interfaces. The prototype also reveals a glass roof, which could translate into a panoramic sunroof in production, further elevating the car’s luxury appeal.
Mercedes-CLA Powertrain
The Modular Mercedes Architecture (MMA) platform is underpinning the new CLA, which will also support future models like the A-Class, GLA, and GLB. This platform will enable various powertrains, including petrol and non-plug-in hybrid options. Notably, Mercedes will not offer a diesel variant in this generation. For those leaning towards electric, the CLA will eventually introduce fully electric versions with single- or dual-motor configurations. The original CLA was phased out in favor of the A-Class Limousine, positioning the CLA as a more premium offering in the lineup.
